Airbrush Lube

Hi all,

I have read a number of posts concerning superlube or needle juice on the needle of the AB and in the trigger mechanism. I read in the instruction pamphlet that came with my Iwata that they recommended using a lube of some sort on the needle as well.

My question is what sort of lube, superlube or needle juice should I use and were can I get some from? I don’t think Dixieart is an option, as I don’t believe they take O/S orders under $45 USD.

Cheers
Darren

Darren, I use Super Lube on my airbrush, and it works a treat. (When the ab is working that is!)
Your local hobby store should have some, and it is available in Australia.
Check out the Aussie Modellers forum in the General discussion section.

Because of where I live, getting stuff is difficult, but a chap by the name of Snowy helped me out. His local hobby store has it regularly, as do many others.
Post a thread there, and some Aussies will help you out quick smart!!!

For an airbrush lube job I use cooking vegetable oil or lip balm. I’ve been doing it for years. And the vegetable oil also gets used for cookin’.

Roosterfish,

Does the paint taste better with the vegetable oil or the lip balm? [:o)] [:-^]

Mike

Mike, you exist on a REALLY strange level of weird![:o)]

'Bout fell out of my chair when I read that one!

How about extra virgin Olive oil??? (whered they find the extra virgins anyways???)

Thanks mate, I do try. [;)]
Sorry I couldn’t help myself with that one.

On a serious note, some people used petroleum jelly years ago for this purpose but you have to be careful with it as too much can cause it to get into the paint moving over the needle of the airbrush and potentially messing up your paint job. That is why I recommend Badger Needle Juice and Medea Super Lube as they will not affect the paint at all. I believe they are Teflon based.

Mike

Pure natural soybean oil is the best.

JUST KIDDING! Extra, extra virgin olive oil.

Where they find the… ooo nevermind.

NO, no, no, Mylords
I am a Spaniard and I can’t stand you put olive oil on airbrushes. Olive oil is para hacer la cocina.

what he said [#ditto]

Did he just call us “my lords,”??? wow

Too much Lord of the Rings maybe? [(-D]

Mike

No way he was talking about me! Must have been Tweety [:)]

All right, I’ll do it again for nekulturny New World audience :
" Bunch of Beotians, don’t you know that olive oil is ONLY for cooking and that using it in an airbrush could be considered like a blaspheme ? "

We don’t know how to cook with olive oil, we only use 100% pure grease that soaks into fast food sacks ]:)]

I use olive oil…on squeky hinges, rusty silverware, airbrush needles (when I get my airbrush) and many other good things like noodles, spaghetti, eggrolls hmmm anyhting else??

Music City, you are allowed to rub pieces of fast food sacks on your airbrush needle.
Woodbeck, as for squeeky hinges and rusty silverware, you could use WD 40, for airbrush needles ask to Music City if he wants to share fast food sacks with you.
By the way, I’ll have to check further but I believe that conditions of use for olive oil are written somewhere in the Kyoto protocol about Earth resources preservation, but I forgive you, how could you know as USA didn’t sign it ?
All right, I give up, do what you want, but never knock on my door to know if I have some olive oil left to do all these devilish things that you do ( poor olive oil );

You forgot to use the word “Barbarians” somewhere in your post [:p]

Knock, Knock … Hey, Torio, have you got any olive oil? My airbrush is a little sticky and McDonalds is closed!

Knock, Knock … Hey, Torio, have you got any olive oil? My McDonalds french fries need a little help!

Darren, if you can’t find any airbrush lube in Oz let me know and I’ll get you some here. With shipping it should cost less than $10 US.
