I keep getting paint between the cup and trigger assembly on my not young Iwata HP-CS. Is this normal?
Sounds like a rear seal

A rear seal is a body replacement? I don’t see a rear seal on the parts diagram. The needle packing screw maybe?
Its called the “needle packing screw set with PTFE packing” part number 17251 from Iwata. You can buy them all over. You will need a special screw driver to take it out and put it back in as well. You don’t need a body. Iwata does not show them in the parts diagram, but if you look at the “not pictured” list you will see it there.
I purchased an Iwata maintanence kit, CL500 on Amazon for $80. It has all the tools you need to work on these and since I have 4 airbrushes I know I’ll need it sooner or later.
But, at the very least, you must have that screwdriver to do this.

Ok, I found it and was able to get it out with a small flat head. I’ll replace it and see how it goes, thanks for the help.

You don’t really need a special tool. Just use something like a toothpick to get it started. It’s a touchy adjustment. You may have to play with it a bit to get just a tiny bit of drag on the needle.
