AIR SUPERIORITY GRAY

Hi guys,

I can’t find a manufacturer that makes air superiority gray. I believe it’s FS26492. What’s the closest I can get i.e.: light gray, light gull gray, etc. Or is there a mix ratio to obtain ASG? Any suggestions as always are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Manny

The first “2” in the number indicates that it is a semi-gloss color. You will probably have more luck finding flat (36492) or gloss (16492). This link:
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_fs.htm
shows a Humbrol mix that corresponds to FS-36492

Thanks Scott—I need this for an Indian Air Force Mig 21, I’ve been going nuts tryng to come up with an alternative.

I forgot to mention that the link I gave has color chips of all the FS colors. The “FS” number itself is a link. Click it and it will show you the color, however you should remember that colors on computer monitors are seldom accurate [:)]

Probably any “Light Gray” would be close enough. The original color is only valid the day it rolls out of the plant, and after that it starts to get dirty and faded and everything else.

Scott,
I went MM light gray FS 36485, I sprayed the MiG today it’s beginning to look really nice. I’m also working on another FISHBED also to be in light gray, but this one will have a giant blue swordfish on both sides (this one is from the Polish Air Force). Again thanks for the help.

Grays are easy. Too dark and it just looks dirty, too light and it just looks faded. Glad you found the one you needed, or at least the one you like [:)]

Thanks Scott,

That was urgently needed info.
