agusta-bell 212 asw

found an old model kit of this and was wandering did the us navy use this version for anti sub warfare??[:D][:D]

Nope,
Italian navy only[;)]

212’s in the US Military were used primarly by the Marines for troop transports. They were favored by the Marines over the original Huey for the twin engine design for over water safety. Infact I think they may have been disigned with this concept in mind. (im sure some one here will correct me if Im wrong. The USAF also used the 212’s for CSAR, Missle Base defense, and some other utility work. ASW is/has been done by SH-60 Seahawks, SH-3 Seakings, and SH-2 Seasprites

UH-1N (military designation for Bell 212) is still used by USN and USMC as troop insertion, and close air support in USMC and SAR in USN. Thses are recent opics below. As stated above, SH-60B as taken over the ASW role.

USMC Gunship version.
