Aggressor Hornet

Here is my latest build - a Hasegawa 1/48 f-18 dressed up as a Topgun Aggressor. The plane is mostly build OOB with the exception of a Verlinden seat.

I followed the coloring guide from the TwoBob decal sheet I bought, but it turned out to be incorrect. [B)] The colors on the guide is way darker than the actual decals, hence the reverse negative effect on the stencils and national insignia don’t work at all.

Overall, I’m disappointed in the decals (and the instructions), but am very happy with the kit itself. It builds up to a very handsome Hornet.

Thanks for looking.

here it’s posed next to a Mig-29 I built earlier this year.

nice looking Hornet lofty…it looks great to me. The Verlinden seat is outstanding. Good job. Thanks for the pics.

Very nice work. Good looking Hornet.

Great looking Hornet.

Nice looking Hornet and Fulcrum (wouldn’t mind seeing more of that one[^]). What kind of paint and airbrush did you use?

thanks guys. i just wish the decals worked out, that woulda been cool.

trigger74: i used gunze acrylics, the airbrush is an Iwata Eclipse

Very nice job on the Hornet.[tup]I understand your frustration about the decals. It seems TwoBobs has the decals printed using “scale effect” for all the colors. The result is they are way lighter than what you would expect. If you know this going in, no problem. In the end though, you still have a model that anybody would proud to display.

Looks great very nice build.

Lofty great job on the hornet. Top Notch. I really like the way you displayed the hornet and the fulcrum together. The decals look great and so does the paint job.

Looks like that Iwata helped you to a great finish. I’m looking into one of those (once I get the money) I hear they are great. I suppose you’ve had good luck with it?

Nice finished kits. especially the CUBAN MIG29.

With the paint i use (TAMIYA or ACADEMY) but prefer the TAMIYA with the big glass bottle paints, i usually use/add some flat white to lighten up the shade or use black or mixture of white & black to create gray shades to darken the paint shade. I suggest test spray until desire visual color is achieved.

I dont usually usually use the paint of the bottle except for whites and blacks.
Be artistic and mix some paint especially black-white-grays to lighten/darken paint u want to spray on model kits. Same idea works on creating different shades of aluminum or metallic colors.

Nice job ,matching decal colors can be a pain , but it looks good to me=)
