Aftermarket B-58 cockpit set?

Hi guys,

I thought I saw a while ago an aftermarket resin cockpit set for the 1/48 B-58. Does anyone know who the manufacturer was and/or even if the set is still available? Was it any good?

Thank you!

Eric

Check this out from Swanny… looks like what you’re after:

Thanks Rad!

I did some more checking into the Golden Dragon company as a whole and it looks like you’re really taking your chances with them. I saw one review of their resin 1/144 B-52 conversion. using no exaggeration, it looks like the resin was first run over with a truck before shipping out. The clear resin used on windscreens were oily and fingerprints were left in them. The masters for the revised engine pods appeared to be carved by a blind guy with a chainsaw. Upon checking out remarks left on other modeling chat forums, it appears as though the guy who ran Golden Dragon would take people’s money and never ship out orders. But that’s only because he would take pre-orders for kits that weren’t even being made yet (such as their 1/32 B-58). The kit was never manufactured and the money was never returned.

So I think I’ll steer far, far away from Golden Dragon. Yikes!

I concur on the Golden Dragon thing, stay away. I did get a B-52 conversion set from them but the main parts are unuseable and they failed to make good on a promise to replace them. Engines and Things did a resin cockpit set for the B-58 but it is not state of the art by any means (yeah, I have that one as well) and I heard that the owner of E & T passed away recently. I was sorry to hear that because many of his engine sets were good value for the money. Not Aires, but at 20% the price.

I think Lonestar Models is about release a 1/48 cockpit set. Here is a link to the website, scroll down an you will see the set.

Someone did a pretty good summary of B-58 aftermarket parts at the ARC forum.

The Fisher kit is probably the best cockpit set, but it is front seat only.

I’ve always been a little leery of Lonestar ever since I got burned by their P-61E conversion set. No instructions, substandard vacuform parts, mystery pieces…I think that was $40 that went right in the trash.
