I bought an 1/24th scale Me-109 in a bag with no box, instructions, or decals but, for a buck who cares…
Problem is, it’s missing the main landing gears. I know I could build it gear up but, I want the gear.
Any ideas or suggestions? I think the kit is an old Airfix.
Hoping for the best,
Ray
Couple of ideas… One is to look into bilding them from brass or aluminum tubing… The other would be to check the R/C section of a LHS… You may not find Me 109 gear, but it’s likely that you’ll find strut material…
You might be able to order the missing parts from the mfr or their distributor.
Pretty tough to do though, Hawk, with no part numbers…
There is a company called Scale Aircraft Conversions that makes white metal landing gear struts for various aircraft kits. Nice strong ones. You may want to look to see if they have your 109 kit in their product line up.
I looked at Scale Aircraft Conversions and all they have in 1/24th MLG’s are for the Mossie and the Hurricane. Obviously, neither can be modified to fit the Me-109. So, before I suck it up and scratch build a set, I e-mailed Hornsby, the new owners of Airfix with my sob story about kit in a bag, no mlg, parts loose in the bag so no part number…I asked if it would be possible to purchase the parts. Now, I wait.
Thanks for the suggestions
