You guys know the clear instrument panel Trumpeter uses with the instrument faces being a film that goes in behind it? I’m building my first one and I’m not sure how to get the best looking instument panel. This is for my P38 Lightning if anybody has built that kit and has advice on contruction?

I have not built that particular kit, or any Trumpy kit for that matter but the method I have used for similar IP’s is to mask where the decal will show through with punched discs of Tamiya tape, or use drops of Elmer’s Glue or any other masking agent. Then, paint the front of the IP black (or whatever color you want to use) then when you remove the masking you will have a painted IP with clear areas that will serve as “lenses”. Put the decal on the backside, and voila! I have heard of others painting the back of the decal white after it has been applied and dry to help the decal stand out, but I have never actually tried it. HTH! [tup]
