Add a Preview feature to the Reply function

It’d be nice to be able to preview a post before saving it.

Apologies if this is a repeat. I searched for any existing posts with this suggestion, but the search returned 1550 hits and I wasn’t about to page through them.

One of the lesser attributes here (or not here).

I either type long posts in Word and import them when I’m done; or just go ahead and post at a point and then continue with edits.

Not great.

Thats what the little magnifying glass icon on the reply menu bar does. Lower line of icons, to the immediate left of the emoji happy face icon. Click on that and a preview of what you have typed will appear.

Thanks, Stik!

I’d say that’s a poor design. It’s not the most obvious thing, especially when a magnifying glass is most commonly used to indicate a search function. It’s not as prominent as it could be, either. The forums that have previews typically use an enabled Preview button, placed next in the UI to the button that saves the post. In this case, it would be better-user-friendlier, that is-to have it next to the Submit button.

I won’t argue that. Why not simply label the thing as “preview” and take the guesswork out of the equation. I remember when the old site had a life ring icon as the save button. It took my dumb self quite some time to figure that one out.

I’d rather have spell check back. [8-)]

OK, now I ran into a scenario in which the preview feature didn’t preview my post. I was writing a reply with multiple quotes. That is, I used the Quote feature to bring a post’s text into my reply, then I split that quote up by putting quote tags around each point the original author made, and then put my replies after each quote. I don’t know if that’s what prevented the preview from showing my reply, but it’s what I did.

I didn’t know that! Now, wheres the spell checker ? [:#]

Yeah, spell check and save features would be most welcome.
