Pix, that is a fantastic build!! It looks ready to roar off the flight deck in the first pic! I hope my avenger looks as good as yours when it’s done! (needless to say, if i encounter problems during construction, i’ll probably be pestering you… [;)]) What’s next on your work bench?? [:D]
Quagmyre - I will be sending pics to Accurate Miniatures. I have two already in their galleries (A-36 Apache & Yak 1b - my real name is Bill Lachance)
ghettochild - as long as you dryfit EVERYTHING (more than once, in most cases) and take your time, the fit is great. Proper fitting of the bomb bay roof and rear bulkheads ensure a clean fuselage fit. Dryfitting is essential when it comes to the turret. It can be tricky, and patience is mandatory.
shrikes - I have a 1/48 Tamiya Swordfish that’s almost complete, a 1/48 Accurate Miniatures Il-2 single-seat about to have its camo painted, and a 1/48 Eduard Profi-Pack P-39Q (building as an “N”) in early construction. I’ll also be starting a 1/48 Monogram C-47 for the D-Day Group Build. i also plan to start Fine Molds’ 1/48 Judy soon. Just a “few” at a time for me. [;)]
Rick - no, there’s no masking at all on the camo. I painted the wings & horizontal stabilizers separately. The fin fillet required touch-up on the Intermediate Blue, but it was airbrushed freehand also. Its most noticable in the second pic.
Thank you all once again ! Its such a pleasure to share my efforts with you.
That’s spectacular, Pixilater. I’m in awe of your work. The canopies are perfect and that’s a tough job with all that “greenhouse”. Truly impressive!
Paul
I masked the canopies with Scotch “Magic” (frosty tape, and trimmed it with a new #11 blade. The curved piece on top of the windscreen got two pieces, left & right. I use wide, flat tweezers to pinch any areas that buckle. It always works for me, and any residue is easily removed with another piece of tape.
