I am working on getting the new academy kit, has anyone done this yet, and if so do you have any advice for me… ?
Also a question on weathering it… How do you get it weatherd like the picture in the magazine? the light grey coat, and then all the seams look like they realy got a workout… i hate to spend the money on the kit and screw it up with a bad weathering job, and something that pretty needs more than just a shiny coat of paint.
I have the kit myself but I haven’t startet it yet. I can’ t give you much advice only wish you good luck. The decal sheet is awesome…Uhhhh I can’t wait. [:D][:P]
Look at the decal sheet, but for the sake of your sanity do not use it!
The decals are too thick and do not settle on the model even if you use a gallon of slovent! Check out Cam or others for your decals, maybe Academy will get it right some day. . .

Thanks Don you may have saved me from a big mistake. To bad I really liked them, Well I guess its aftermarket for the decals then. But the kit still looks great and im still looking forward to building it. By the way Verlinden have just released their 1/32nd scale ejection seat for the hornet. nice stuff.

Now some of us have an excuse. I HAVE NO MONEY to buy that kit, but would I if I could, that is like asking if the Babe is a Yankee!!! YOU KNOW I WOULD. I did aquire in a trade the other day though the Revell Tomcat in that scale WOW is it big.

help or not i love reading the trhreads its funny to see what ppl say… like seabee i know what you mean im getting ready to move jun1 after i move i have a whole room just to myself for me and my computers and models and toys and women… err forgot the girlfriend is coming… no women in there… and yes it is expensive but its one of them have to have things!!! i still owe money on a certian piece of jewelry for her but this kit is coming first =) SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH dont tell her how much it is! or im dead!!
I finally got started on mine, the best advice i can give is to start with the weapons, (advice i got on mine, and it is good advice). also going to use aftermarket on the squadron markings (figured on a jar head bird). but just give yourself lots of time, and be patient with her and she will come out fine. (any model you learn from is a good build). Sea Bee…dont fight the force…come to the darkside[}:)]

I am also wise… My wife will positively kill me, since I bought the 1:12 F2002 (F1, for those that don’t recognise it… [;)] ) and just a week or so ago ran into a special on the 1:32 Tamiya F-4J - at about the price (bit more) of a 1:48 kit! Couldn’t resist! [}:)]
So yeah, much as I’d like it, I’ll have to wait a bit - for it to get (even) more expensive! But hey, a man can dream! [:D]
