Academy's 1/48 Scale P-38F Lightning.... Done

This is my latest which I’ve done for the P-38 group build, thought I’d share it with you fellas.

Thanks to Vance for letting me join the GB and also Frank (Daywalker) for kindly sending me a set of SuperScale decals, lastly Richie (Simpilot) who gave me the kit a couple of Christmas ago.

I added some Eduard PE in the cockpit, True details Wheels and some Master Barrels. Paints are mainly Gunze with a bit of Tamiya, brush paints are Vallejo and Citadel.

Enough waffle!

It does have an underside too but I forgot to take a picture.

All comments welcome and thanks for looking

Cheers…

Thanks chaps, kind words from very talented modellers.

Very nice, beautiful work.

That is sublime, Mike.

Can’t get over the weathering. Just brilliant.

Just beautiful![Y] The finish is outstanding. What weathering techniques did you use?

[Y]Beautiful!! I don’t want to marry it, but I’d like to take it to dinner and a movie. [t$t][snWow]

(SheWhoMustBeObeyed is all the marriage partner I’ll ever need.)

Vance should thank you for joining the group build—he needs some actual finishers in it…he drags his feet worse than the zombies in “Night of the Living Dead”…

Great seat to Ride Lightning!!!

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments and also to Manny for making me laugh out loud.

Buckeye, I didn’t preshade on this one, it was all done with post shading, random patches of Gunze OD lightened with Tamiya buff, lots of streaks with the wind flow of various mixes of OD and buff. Also did a bit of a filter with some artists oils and picked out some panel lines with citadel washes, I tried some chipping using liquid mask but failed miserably so I just picked out some fine chipping with citadel chainmail. Staining around the exhaust was a mix of lighy grey then buff and finally an earth brown hull red combo. Hope that helps.

Paint chipping is a real struggle for me anyone got any tips I’m all ears.

Thanks,

That really came out great! [t$t]

Hey Spike- stunning build- excellent weathering and scratchbuilding!
