academy tiger 1

Has anyone built the academy tiger 1, you know the one with the engine and full interior? I got one from my wife at christmas and it’s a doozy. well worth a look at and a great platform for aftermarket stuff. Also how do you put single linktracks together? i cant work out how many links I need.

I haven’t build it, but as far as indy tracks go, I use a board with a straight groove cut into it. I align the links against one side of the groove, and apply glue. For tracks around the sprockets, I glue them on first, and then paint them. Then I fit the other links on the ones connected to the sprocket while they are still soft. As the glue dries I keep them on, and when it dries, I take them off and paint them. Then I re-attach them. This is at least how I did it for my T34. I’m sure there are other ways.[:)]

I’ve built it. It has a great fit. For the tracks, I just glued them together and then took them and placed them against the wall to get them straight. You will need about 2 spruces’ for one side, depending on the sage you want.

Hope this helps

RE: the indy tracks
They aren’t that bad to assemble , just make sure you have a good fit between the links , sometimes you have to clean em’ up a bit , but do a length of them , glue them and let them set for a bit , when the glue is about half way dry yet still flexible , put them onthe tank , a good place to start is around the sprockets and idlers , and just fill in whatever you need after .

I hear a lot of modelers have liked this kit , I have not done it myself , but it does look nice when finished .

Here’s a couple of links to articles on fixing up the Academy interiors:
