i just got a 1/48 mirage 3-c on e-bay and was wondering if any one else had experience with this model. ive been doing a bit of light research on the net and it seems that certain academy kits of the mirage are actually in 1/50th scale! is this true and have i made a potential faux pas in buying this kit!
I’ve built two of them, it is a very cheap kit ($8aud) it is very basic and simple and not very accurate, although it goes together easy and it looks nice when finished.
Hi there Stew81. I’m in the middle of covering my Academy Mirage IIIC in kitchen foil to ‘iron out’ [(-D][(-D][(-D][XX] a few wrinkles in my technique. It did not become a technique testbed without a reason, but I do think she looks like a real Mirage IIIC now. Sure, the detail in the cockpit and undercarriage area is very basic, but the whole aircraft is engraved very nicely[^]. With a good finish, this kit will look really nice on your shelf. And for the price, who’s complaining? In my opinion there’s very few faux-pas (the SMER SM-79 being a notable exception [V]), just kits that need more work to look good. Have fun on yours!
