OOB build with the addition of some Miniart P-47 parts,(Drop tank, pylons and bombs). Not a great kit, it has options to do short nose or long nose, which I did. There was fit issues with the nose to fuselage/wing area. I made my own masks for it. A what if of an interesting aircraft.
That’s a great finish!
I have this one, too, and I’m finishing it as a what-if build. You’re right about details. The interior is a little sparse. I took a True Details F4F seat for the cockpit to replace the kit part. I also thought about opening the nose to show the weapons bay. But the machine guns provided are a little small and soft on details, so I abandoned that idea.
My premise is that the Navy took delivery of 15 Skyhawks and gave them to the Marines as ground attack aircraft, deployed to Guadalcanal.
Cool idea, always fun to build these prototype aircraft and have fun with the scheme.
The Blackhawks would be impressed. That’s a cool bird, and a nice build. Like the markings.
A very well done, and unique model. Great job overall, especially the painting.
Very cool, Grant. When I find the kit, I’ll be doing a “what-if” too. Really nicely done. VMF-247, the Wildcats?
Thanks Frank, no particular squadron in my case, but the options are endless when doing what if subjects.
