Here is my latest project. The wood armor was scratch built from airplane balsa and toothpics and beat up with sanding sticks and an exacto. Any critiques or corrections are welcome

Very nice JWest. Thats a great idea. What is your reference for the camo? If it’s just made up thats cool. That will be a real eye-catcher at shows or on the shelf. [tup]
Looking good!
That’s very nice Jason. Hmm, I notice a few in progress builds there. [:D] Which kit is it?
That is the Academy M4A2 Marines. The scheme is from the kit, but the wood they provide was incorrect. check out www.hardcorpsmodels.com for some great Pacific Sherman pics. Its where I got the basis for my wood pattern
It turning out very nice. the camo looks great. Did you mask it or free hand it?
Jason, sweet build, but you know what I think from the other side.
Ted
Awesome camo job. Can’t wait to see the finished model.
I masked it using Fun-tac. I hope to finish this week, so I will get some more pics up later
First class job Jason! Semper Fi, mike
Thanks!!
The Fun-tac really worked! Thanks.
[:D] great job Jason, cant wait to see the finished kit.[:D]
Thanks again
Matt- the funtac was really nice- didn’t leave a residue and stuck where you put it. Just need to push it down a little and it sticks. I kinda mushed mine up afterwards and reused it too. Also, if you have a Target nearby they have generic funtac for even cheaper.
I’ll check that out at the Target. I’m always looking for something that works a little better. Thanks.
Nice Sherman Jason!! I’m hoping to do a Pacific Sherman someday myself. Really first rate work!!
Andy- if you do, you should try out the wood armor. It was actually pretty easy and looks much better than the plastic wood that the kit has.
cool lookin build Jwest. looks pretty good so far. post up som pics of it for us when its done!!
Jason, really nice work!! Your camo job will be an inspiration for me to do the Dragon M4A1.
Oh, that is a nice kit! One thing to remember- if you do Weenie One, the directions call for the “fancy” drive sprocket, but in actuality it had the “plain” sprocket (also in the kit). I have a pic and a color plate when you are ready to go. Let me know.
