Academy F-15E "Seymour Johnson" Decal Quality?

Hello,

Excuse me if this is the wrong section as I am new to the forums and modeling for that matter. I recently ordered the Academy 1/48 F-15E “Seymour Johnson” kit but it hasn’t arrived yet. From what I’ve read Academy decals are atrocious and this kit doesn’t come with good (cartograph) decals like other Academy kits.

I do have the Revell F-15E kit which I will be building first but I hope to use the Academy markings on it because I prefer the red tailband. So my question is, should I use the Academy decals or are they bad? If they are bad, would solvaset help?

I don’t know about the red bands in the Academy kit, but the Revell F-15E kit has green bands. Can you use the Revell kit decals and just paint the red band, or does it have some lettering on it. I can tell you that straight up Academy decals can be a nightmare, kind of like putting on waxed paper. Good luck.
