Academy F-15C question

Hi all,

Got a problem. I’m trying to fix the featherless exhaust nozzles on the Academy 1/48 F-15C that a friend of mine is building. The problem is that the nozzles pieces don’t fit the ring. It takes 5 to complete the nozzle, but there’s not enough room for the fifth one. Are we missing something, or is this a known problem? All help is appreciated!

You could try narrowing the petals with a sanding stick or sandpaper. Just be careful to do it evenly across all of them.

However, make sure that this will line up with the fuselage before you remove any material.

I am also currently building this kit. What a nightmare!! Poor fit, sink holes galore, no details in wheel wells or avionics bay and I haven’t even got to the turkey feathers yet. Very disappointed in this kit.

I’ve kind of come to the conclusion the nozzles suck on this one myself. I have considered finding a Revell F-15E and stealing the nozzles.

Note: I am building the MSIP update kit. I don’t think it is a bad kit actually. I am not sure how I feel about the PE it came with.

Thanks for the heads up ya’ll. Looks like sanding sticks it is.

Get some thin double sided tape (looks like scotch tape but sticky on both sides). Wrap it around the ring and stick the petals to this while you work in them. That allows test fitting before you glue them permanently.
