Academy 1/35 Tiger 1 Early Version Status

Hey fellas im building an Academy Tiger 1 early kit and wanted to share my progress.

im not a pro this is my first armor model, have got alot of tips from this forums and trying to paint it like the Tiger at Bovington Museeum we’ll se how that ends up [;)]

Comments and any suggestions on what I could change, or any tips in general would be great

Thanks and greetings from Sweden

All I see are red x’s. [:(]

Edit: Now I see them.

Looking good so far keep up the good work!

Thanx for sharing your build up! May I make a painting suggestion? The green panels above the transmission housing are the tops of the radio transmitter as it sat housed in a frame. They should be dark or medium grey in color. Also the three green bags against the firewall – they are machine gun ammo pouches. They should be khaki bags with dark grey or black metal lids. Hope these help.

A great resource can be found on this site:

You are doing a nice job. Looks like a nice kit. How do you like the kit so far? Keep up posted of your progress.

Looking good! Are you going to fix the problem with the ammo storage racks?? And I must warn you, you will get in trouble with the transmission, it is too high so the top of the tank will not sit properly.

Thanks for your tip T26E4 will do the changes asap.
yeah Anthony i have encountered that the transmission is higher, gonna find a way to solve that problem.
see if i get to fix the ammo racks too in time. Any tips on how i could extend the racks?

I guess just some sheet plastic and maybe some bulsa wood…

EDIT: I dont know if you should just extend it, maybe just remake the whole rack…

Okey thanks for the tip will figure a way to reamke it
will update with pics when the changes are done.

I’m a little further than you are on my Academy Tiger. Heres the article I’m editing my tiger with. And, heres my article (a little dated).

Good progress. [:)]

Hey nice Montana i have read your article and the one from missing lynx before both are good to get tips and ideas from, waiting to see how your turrent ends up
keep up the good work [:)]

Looking good so far.I love this kit myself and hope to build another one soon.My first one got destroyed by my two year old.So I salvaged the interior and put in my DML Tiger.keep the pic’s coming.

Welcome to the boards. Always nice to see another Tiger. [;)] Your doing fine so far, just take your time. I don’t know if the Bovington Tiger is the correct color, but someone might have that info.

Looks great so far. I have the same kit on my own shelf, but I think I’ll wait to gather as much AM for this kit as possible before I start out on it.

Good looking job on the build so far.

I’m building the same kit, I am ahead of you but I’m such a slow builder I think you will finish before me. There are errors in this kit but apart from the ammo it doesn’t need to be corrected, it will build OK. If you are going to correct the ammo storage don’t try to extend it, replace it. So much easier. I notice that like me you are copying the box art for painting. This is not correct but I think it looks good.

So does your build so far.[tup]…Kenny

Hey, Montana a nice article you are doing; wish I had seen that before I started!.

Hi Again.

After some hours of cutting and reshaping of the rack holders i finally got this result.
Note that its unpainted and not glued just put together to see how it ended up, I think it turned out pretty well.

Cheers

Looking at your mod’, have you checked that it will not foul on the turret ring. The racks look a bit wide. Other than that it looks good…Kenny

Looks good! Keep it comming!

i like your build man!-- looks real nice so far–the correction of ammo racks looks great-- thats good modelling-- i hope all fits with turret etc-- looks like it will – nice job[tup]-- keep posting updates[:D]-- treadwell

Hey again
heres the progress on the tiger right now, sadly i had to change the ammo racks since the didn’t co-operate with the top plate and the underside of the turret. but aahh well who said it was giong to be easy? [;)]

More to come [:)]
Cheers
