I finished this build up in early December, and completed the figures at Christmas time. Now that I’m able to log on the new site, here it is. I made some mods to the kit, added stowage from my spares bin and using some Value Gear items as well. Figures are cobbled together from various sources. I finished this as a vehicle from the 1st Infantry Division during Desert Storm in winter 1991.

and with the rest of my 1/35 M113 family

Thanks for looking, comments and critiques are welcome

Another excellent AFV build Carlos! Adding figures takes a model to the next level don’t they? I really need to start adding them to my aicraft builds. Well done.

Thanks Chris! Yes figures do add to most any build, giving a better sense of scale and/or setting context.
Great job Carlos. What OD green did you use on the ruck sacks? It kind of looks like a two part system like Mission Models Paint Faded OD green #2 and Faded OD green #3.
Again… well done Carlos
Thanks 66. I think that I used either Humbrol Forest Green 150, Marine Green 105, or Khaki Drab 159 as a base color on the rucksacks. Later I used a Vallejo dark green, possibly Olive Gray thinned with their Glaze Medium as a wash on them. Lastly I used AK Olive Drab paint pen, for the straps.

Looks great! And those are a lot of M113s…

Thanks Solomon. I have a few more basic M113 variants to build in my stash, plus a few derivatives such as the artillery ammo carrier, and the Chaparral & Lance missile carriers.

Dang, that’s a heck of a Motor Pool.
I really like how you captured how FIST all seem to wind up looking like Okies headed west during the dustbowl.with gear all piled on them.
Really nice paint jobs on those, too.
Are you missing a mortar carrier (or two) in the line up?

Thanks Capn. Yeah, the FO tracks could look like Gypsy wagons with all their additional gear. And yes you’re quite right, I’m missing a mortar track. That’s next up for this family in the batting order. Later this year
Excellent work there Stik. I can’t believe I missed this build. Yes, I remember, I was having cataract surgery. Anyway, the desert yellow color and fading along with the gear and figures really throws this APC over the top. I have one question: What made you decide to color the vision glasses in that color?
That FISTV turned out great. The stowage looks so realistic and just adds so much to this build. A fine addition to your M113 collection.
Thanks Tiger. I chose that color to represent the anti laser coating on US Army AFV optics that started to be applied near the end of the Cold War. It’s actually a paint for car models, but I thought that it gave a decent representation of the coating color.
