Academy 1/35 m51 super sherman?

Hi. I’m thinking about getting this tank. If you have built this tank, can you tell me about the fit, the details on the tank, and anything you think i should know about? I’m not particularly concerned with accuracy as long as the tank looks ok.

I recently purchased this kit, but haven’t yet made it. It looks fine at first glance. However, the tracks look stiff (would be good to go with indi links) and the cover for the mantle is molded on, so the main gun cannot move up or down, which is a bit limiting.
All in all, it looks like a good build and I’m looking forward to getting some reference photos of a real M51’s interior before I start it.

Thanks for the reply. I ran out of money during my recent splurge so I doubt I’ll be able to buy individual tracks. The non-movable manlet thing kind of sucks. Now I won’t be able to make my tank look like a self propelled howitzer…

Hipantsless!

I built the tank and it’s a wonderfull kit!
Dont worry about the track’s they are fine and the gun elivation looks just right. I had a problem with the lower part of the mantlet, a very big gap. So I took a piece of cloth (Yes I know it’s uncommon…) used filler and super glue to shape and blend a the new lower canvas into the upper plastic, causing it to look like a one piece canvas, and the best part is that now the gun is a bit more elivated!! Ok no hoitzer but sure looks nice.

Very important part is the small hatch on the left side of the turret. it is blended in to the turret and not just stuck there.
Try to obtain photos of the area, you’ll see the diffrence.

Good luck, and good luck with the color!

Hey ‘Pants’,

Take a look at this one (scroll down to the Isherman:

purdy…

on a funnier note, http://homepage1.nifty.com/lefthand/afv2003/17afv_9.html

Look at the picture at the very bottom. I guess they were too impatient to wait for the guy to walk away before taking the picture.

Yep, really difficult photoing at shows, unless you have a backdrop set up for folks to bring models to. What a diorama though, eh?? Wow.

Oh, the only thing I’d change on that Isherman is the color of the tanker helmets. They’re the vehicle color for the Is. Army at that time.

So that’s where King Tigers come from! [;)]

Oh, Larry, OUCH! LOL!!!

Ron.

I made this kit 2 or 3 years ago.Didn’t worry about the finer points too much and was very happy with the end result.Wasn’t too fussed with the figures though.I thought the limbs were a bit long.
