Academy 1/32 scale Nieuport 17 WW1 Centenary paint colors and detail set

I’m going to be buying this model come the 12 (payday)! But before I do I was wondering what I should do regarding painting the model. I found a picture of the instruction booklet here http://www.model-making.eu/products/NIEUPORT-17-First-World-War-Centenary.html and I noticed that its asking for aluminum and steel paint colors and if you look at the pictures, it shows the aircraft looking metallic. So should I ignore that color because it doesn’t seem to be historical accurate considering that plane was canvas covered? If so, what do you think is a good substitution to give it that grey background?

Does anyone have suggestions on which ones? I want to get the gun but when it comes to the cockpit detail I’m not to sure.

Not sure but some of the dope that they covered the canvas with was semi-metallic.

It is aluminium dope made by mixing aluminium powder with clear dope.

the alluminium was mixed into the clear dope to keep the UV light off the fabric and strech the life thereof.

Problem is that alluminium powder in nitrocelulose dope is extremely and very agressivley flamable. The Hindenberg shpws this clearly.

Check the paint guide in their instruction manual. It should give you a list of colors for that kit.
