Abrams with diorama pics

Ok, after a lot of tinkering with my digital camera and trial and error on the test forum I finally figured out how to post pictures. Sooooo here are a few of the diorama I built for the Abrams.

We’ll see if this works,

It works! Great job on that. Is that the Tamiya kit?

Nice job! I have yet to build one.

Thanks, ya that’s the Tamiya OIF kit

Very nice job there Ryan. I like your base too. Was it homemade?

tigerman-

Thanks! I constructed the base from a piece of two inch thick styrofoam cut to 8"x12". I used a razor and putty knife to shape the top of the styrofoam. Model railroad ballast was used for the sand and lichen for the small shrubs. I was going to airbrush the “sand” but decided to leave it alone as I think it works well with the color of the tank. It looks much better in person, I have horrible lighting here in the basement for taking photos. Maybe if I get a sunny day this weekend I’ll take some pictures outside.

This is the first kit I’ve built probally since I was about 10 years old (I’m 28 now). It’s been fun to do. After this wraps up, I’m going to start a Bradley IFV that’s been calling me from over on the shelf. I’ve also got an A-10 sitting here as well.

Great work!! [tup]

Very nice job. I really like the groundwork. Just needs some markings and figures and its going to look dynamite.

[:D]great work on the kit and dio, very nice[:D]

You’re off to a great start Ryan, and I see nothing but some beautiful models coming off your work bench. Welcome to the forums, and look forward to seeing much more of your work. Semper Fi, mike

Looks good, Ryan. The base and groundwork look great.

Everything looks great. Any chance of an M113 or a Bradley to sit next to the Abrams?

All,

Thanks for the kind words, my next build is going to be a Bradley IFV. Actually, I have two Bradleys sitting on my shelf right now. I picked up a Humvee kit at the hobby shop today. I think I’m going to build all three and do a large diorama with all the kits. A 113 would be a nice addition. I heard Academy makes a nice 113 kit. My two Bradleys and the Humvee are Tamiya.

My next adventure for the Abrams is painting the commander and loader. I’ve never done this before so it should be an interesting experience. I picked up some paint brushes today as well for the fine painting I’ll have to do on them. Anyone have any advice??

I’m looking forward to a group build as well. I’ll see what comes along.

Ryan

that’s amazing! great job, thanks for the pics.
