hello
I just recieved a F-16C from a friend of mine because he didn’t like building models.
well, it turned out that he already opened the box and layed around with the unbuit pieces.
he scared me by putting the smoked canopy in a different container and cutting up the sprues.
I wasn’t worrying about anything until I actua;;y started building it.
If you have the old Hasegawa kit of the block 30, then you know what i’m talking about.
the part at the end of the fuselage halves that stick out, he had snapped them off and misplaced them somehow so I could’t find it.
I’ve tried melting sprues to fill them in, but when the sprues are hot enough to fill, they melt the part yo’re filling, and if you let them cool, it’s rock hard.
what should I do???[banghead]
You could laminate sheet styrene and file / sand the pieces to shape or you could
use epoxy putty and again, file / sand to the proper shape.

it’s a complex thing and although that sounds like it would work great, I can’t obtain any sheet styrene .
sorry for the rude comment and thankyou for the suggestion

If you have sprues, you’re OK. Shave off pieces, thin pieces, enough to cover about x2 the area you need to cover. Put the thinly sliced plastic on a piece of glass and add some lacquer thinner. The plastic should melt into a putty consistancy. Use that to fill the gap, or reconstruct the section. It doesn’t need time to cool, but may take a few days to harden. As it’s the same material as the model, it won’t shrink, and should have equal strength. File and sand to shape. If the area is really big, you may have to glue some sheet styrene to give you a base.
Archer out.
hmm, might wanna try that,
what’s a laquer?
