If you are doing a SEA camo Sandy, yes those colors make sense. As you probably know, the A-1s were originally Navy birds, and when produced, the standard wheel well color was gloss white (the Air Force later adopted this also). When the Air Force accquired and camoed the A-1s, the bottom color was either gray 36622 or black. The wheel wells would be left in the orgional white color.
thank you
that’s all I needed to know before I started to paint the model
It should look like this:
OK, I forgot what color I used for the bottom. [%-)][(-D]
That looks like the SEA gray, 36622. BTW, nice Sandy, Mike!
Hi Mike
I know it has been awhile since I have been on my PC is down and Im using my brothers buisness computer anyway would you know if I need to put two coats of flat gray on the bottom of the skyraider or just one-thank you
Ronald,
I never think of it as 1 coat, 2 coats, etc.
I paint it lightly, wait a couple minutes and give it some more paint until it looks even then let it dry and see. After covering it with Future and letting it dry the wash is going to darken it a little anyhow so don’t worry about it looking perfect.
Thanks.
