A UNIQUE GROUP BUILD ?????

Now that I have your attention, I have a proposition.

My self and another member (Vintage Aircraft) would like to start a group build. I know, your thinking Uggggggg… not another, theres a ton already But its no ordinary one. This build is the opposite of what is normaly done here, a deconsrtuction build if you will. The build will consist of subjects pertaining to aircraft wrecks aircraft in distresed conditions or battel damaged similar to the Lady Be Good Vintage Constructed. We had talked about this in detail and thought it would only be natural for Armor to be included. We would like this GB to extend over both sections of the forum.

The aim of the build is to build armor or aircraft “wreckage”, What I mean is equipment that is destroyed. Meaning you could build a model of a Panzer that has seen the business end or some anti-tank ordanance.

Speaking for myself this is a HUGE challenge. I don’t consider myself having the “skill” to appropriately scratch build or even build a dstroyed kit. But it will be a learnin g experience and great fun. Vintage Aircraft has offered up his help to members that may not have the “skill” to do this.

So you can see the extremity of this build but also its uniqness. So what do ya say

The skies the limit,

Stram

I might be interested in this, but never doing this before, I would definitely want to check with the experts. What is the time frame? Currently I have a lot going but later might work

My two cents…I don’t usually do any group builds, and I personally don’t care to model “destroyed” subjects. I have my reasons for this. You guys have fun and good luck, I hope you get a lot of response and have a lotta fun.

Steve

I was thinking if I did one, it would end up as part of a dio

There is not really a time frame for this yet. I think we are gonna get the members together then discuss that. Some individuals have said asap some have said that in a month or so would be good some have asked for long periods of time to do this as well. A lot is up in the air still. We would like to see a good turn out and base rules on that.

I am chiming in here that destroyed models do not have to actually represent real pictures. Meaning that if you want to use some artistic license to represent a wreck that is ok. That is what I intend to do with my P-61 since I have an issue with modeling a real destroyed vehicle.

Thanks

Dios are welcome too by the way.

LOL forgot to post that before

once you get the specifics together, post them. Thanks.

Man[sigh]I’m just about to finish my wrecked P-61. Well 75% done give or take a few %'s.

hey ygmodeler4,

I would really like to see pics of your build. Also what did you use for reference material?

I will post specifics as soon as we figure them out.

Thanks

just saw a pic with some Russians standing around a Brummbar that was just about obliterated by 200mm (I think) artillery… If this build starts, count me in doing that dio…

To be honest, I think the group builds are a little out of control. There are so many that any one build has very little significance any more.

Ironically, a year or so ago there was a whole debate here about this topic and I came down on the side of “don’t rein in the group builds.”

However, I do shop through them and occasionally participate. But there are so many that they don’t have much impact on me any more.

I understand there are quite a few group builds going on and personally think that there can’t be to many. However I would like everyone, or at least as many as possible to band together and make this a special group build. As I have stated before I think this is a great opportunity to do something a little outside of the box, all while learning some very cool and new techniques.

stram8777, Do you pics of it of the final version or right now. I can do one or both. And to answer your other question. I didn’t use a reference I’m just build what I visualize.

Looks like this is getting off to a good start here.

ygmodeler4- If you finish your P-61 before the build starts or relitivly close to after it starts you can still be included, I enter builds with partialy compleated subjects most of the time, so its fine by me.

Larry_Dunn-I aslo agree with you on your statment, But hopefully this one will be a much different one, kinda out of the ordinary like Stram said.

VA count me in if one starts then. I will put it on hold. And work on one of my other ones.

I would think that would be the most logical reason. I think it takes a bit of bravado to do a situation like that. I will sit this one out, but wish everyone else lots of luck.
