Did you end up using the landing gear strut inside the housing, does it get exposed?
I think I put the strut and actuator into those slots, but they are never visible. The strut mounts to the tire and retracts into the bay with the strut facing the topside of the bay, so it will always be concealed by the door when in retracted position.
I’m not even sure there would be any part of the strut visible at its attachment point in the bay. I only cut off the end of the strut piece to fill the big mounting hole that is quite visible otherwise.
