A simple Local early tractor field show display

I was given these 6 models at an exhibition, in February of this year… Five farm tractors and one Unimog vehicle, all 1:32 scale die-cast models, were given to me, as the client puts it; ‘Make something outta it, and make it work together’. Check out the ‘before’ collage photo of all six vehicles and the ‘after’ photos of the completed commission.

Oh Man,you NAILED it! The weathering on these is fantastic and more importantly very appropriate and realistic. I grew up working on my best friend’s farm and that Ford 8N and the green Oliver are just like the tractors he had on his farm, minus the cab on the Oliver.

Some really good weathering on those tractor models. :+1:

The only bad thing is after looking at those pics, now I got that Green Acres tv theme song stuck in my head.
“Green Acres is the place to be. Farm living is the life for me.” :man_farmer:

Nice that the diorama brought back some good memories. :slightly_smiling_face:

  A positive remark. Farming life not really for me but modelling it sounds cooler; Although, this is for a customer.

Some more of your master class modeling Charles. Like the work that you pulled off on the die casts and absolutely love the ground work man.

What a cool project. You’ve nailed that “used but not abused, dirty but rain-washed” look that farm implements take on. I’ll be studying these!

So glad that you gave it a thumbs up. Much appreciated.

A big thank you for your response. glad you liked it.

The weathering is outstanding. I thought I was looking at real tractors.

Great to hear from you Paul. Thank you kindly.

Looks amazing bro! I love how you make sure to and the tracks on the ground as if they had to pull in and park

Yep! Had to add those tracks as they back in.

I wish more American brand tractor kits were available. I am looking for the Ferguson one now. How much does it take to convert to US version?

Well, these are die-cast, if you were not aware. Saw this American kit: Ertl Massey Ferguson Spirit Of America Tractor Model Kit 1975

And this one: WWII US Military Tractor (A1367) 1:35 Airfix - Kits - Britmodeller.com

Boy does that picture bring back memories. In the early '80s my dad somehow got his hands on a 1942 Caterpillar D2 (it had been a WW2 dockyard tow vehicle so had no blade or hydraulics) that he completely stripped down and restored. He dragged me all over the place to tractor shows for much of the '90s. I had ZERO interest in tractors but went anyway.
Need to dig out pictures but it was just like this only painted red.

Nice to go down memory lane.

I find much of your work sends me into nostalgia mode because even with your mostly European settings much of it looks like our back fields when I was a kid. My dad had a thing for bringing home stray and abandoned equipment, cars and trucks and you capture that feel perfectly.

Appreciate your comment very much. Thank you.

Me, too. My youth was full of tractors, tractor shows, and fairs with “machinery row” displays just like this.

If the goal of art is to elicit emotional response from the viewer, consider your work successful.
