Some of you on the BB may know who I’m speaking of, I was reading the newspaper tonight and discovered that Mr. Charles Robin, a long time ship modeler from Ycloskey (one of our towns in our “County”) committed suicide on the 27th. He was 78 years old. He lost everything in Katrina and I supposed could not handle the loss. He carved his models by hand and made my stuff look cheap!
Jake:
I am not certain if I actually ever met Charles, but I knew his work quite well. He had several models on display at the Biloxi Maritime Industries and Seafood Museum. I live in Biloxi and was a regular at the museum’s November model exhibitions. Charles’ name was on several models in the collection and I always admired his work. I am very sorry to hear of this tragedy. It is also quite sad that his models were lost along with everything else in the museum when it was destroyed. The entire situation is sad all the way round.
Hope things are improving for you guys over there.
