A question on using Bare metal foil clear decal paper ?

Hi everyone ; I just ordered some Bare Metal Foil inkjet Clear decal paper 3pk . I was reading the additional product summary , where it was suggested that I also use the Microscale decal film spray to seal the newly printed decals . The hobby store didn’t have any microscale spray , so I was wondering if I could simply use any type of clear coat over the decal paper ? .

I was thinking of using Testors/Model Master clear from an aerosol [rattle can] , is this okay

John

I seen people on ebay selling decal paper, and they seem to say using car clear coat acrylic laquer to seal the ink is okay. I have tried it yet myself as I have a little left of my original testors spray.

Microscale doesn’t make a Decal Film Spray, you can only get it in 1 oz bottles of liquid. Microscale Liquid Decal Film is available at Bear Metal Foil.

Yes you can use any clear spray overcoat, most use Krylon clear.

Hi John,

Frontline hobbies in Newcastle selll the aforementioned (brush-on) Microscale Liquid Decal Film at about $7.95 (AUD) a bottle. They also have the Testors spray pack Decal Bonder at $8.95 (AUD.

You can find both of these products on this page: http://www.frontlinehobbies.com.au/Shop/productList.aspx?search=decal&type=1&group=-1
