A question for German WW2 a/c experts... wheels & cockpit parts

hiya, folks !
i’m building a 1/72 model of the Horten 229 V7, & the kit has a decent outline but really awful wheels/tires & virtually no cockpit detail…
can anyone suggest a possible donor kit in 1/72 that would have suitable
wheels/tires & something like an instrument panel ?
something that isn’t 2 expensive…
thanx in advance !

Heya frosty…

While I can’t help you with your question, I had to comment on your choice of model. I just posted another secret weapon of the Luftwaffe and the Horten 229 is on my list to build as well…I just had to ask what it was that caused you to build this one??

I might suggest parts from a arado (234?) jet bomber. I think that they used dual and quad engines. They might have been close to what they might have used in the 229 in that they would have the same systems. I think DML makes this kit in 1/72. Good luck.

Here’s a B&W pic of the instrument panel. I’ll look around & see if there’s any wheel well pics anywhere. Good luck fleshing it out !

There are more pics here : http://www2s.biglobe.ne.jp/~FlyWing/FlyingWing_Horten.html
Scroll down to H IX / Ho 229. No wheel well pics, but there may be some useful shots.

Try the Revell AG 1/72 Gotha 229. Pictures and review here

and elsewhere. Not actually in production at the moment, but easy enough to find from the dealers.

Hope this helps,

Chris.

Jeeves:
hi !
simple… it looks really cool ! (how superficial can u get ? [;)][:D])
i have a thing 4 flying wings, the one in Raiders of The Lost Ark
& the Northrop ones, & the B-2 Spirit bomber…
i also like twin boom planes, canard wing planes & that wacky Flying Pancake thingy !
anything that looks weird, i guess,
so i’ve been liking the Luft '46 site 4 sure… [:D]
now i’m going 2 have 2 find ur secret weapon post !
& thanx again 4 sending those decals !

ironwolf, pixilater & chris hall:
thanx 4 ur replies, i was starting 2 think i’d have 2 make it all up from scratch…
i was even thinking of maybe using cockpit parts from a FW190 or Me109,
single engine prop controls 4 a twin engined jet fighter… [xx(]
i am not too smart sometimes, LOL !
