Luftwaffe Fighters and Bombers: The Battle of Britain (Stackpole Military History Series), Chris Gross.
This has been an incredible read. I picked it up as a plane ride book but it has been an eye opening insight into the Battle of Britain through the eyes primarily of the Luftwaffe pilots but it also the RAF fighter pilots point of view. Those young men (on both sides), went through a living hell. The most reccuring theme was as the downed Luftwaffe crew was visiting with their British victor’s, the Brits would say “At least you know your war is over”. They knew the reality was many of them may never make it to see the end of hostilities.
