My turn now. My name is Jim. I’m 53 years old. Married, four kids. one girl, three boys, (one Air Force, one Navy, one Marine, over in Iraq right now, third tour.

Entered Army in 69 and just missed Nam. Trained as an armored vehicle crewman. Me and a buddy got sent to Germany while the rest of my AIT class got sent to Nam. I was trained on the M114/A1 (since retired from active service), the M113/A1
and the M48A2c(gasser). First duty tour at Baumholder German. Here I was trained on the M60 deries. (Hows that for a hell of a jump? Trained on a gasser stateside and on a big diesel on the other side of the pond!!) Been a driver/gunner/tanki commander on M60s, M60A1/Rise/Rise Passive/TTS/A3s over the course of my time. Also got trained on the M60A2 when I got orders to go back to Germany, before they got phased out of inventory. Also crewed on the M60AVLBs as well as M728 CEVs. I served several tours in Germany before the wall came down and have some good photos of the border if anyone is interested. Was there with 11ACR out of Fulda. Been in Korea up near the DMZ, Camp Casy. And let us not forget the stateside tours in Ft.Knox , Hood and Bliss.

My main area of modeling is armor, (of course) with a couple of side trips into WW!! aircraft.

Hobbies include photography, both film and digital, writing, (am working on novel about two WW II Luftwaffe pilots, giving their view of the war in the air)and 3D art, using programs such as Paint Shop Pro and Poser.
I am a small engines mechanic and currently working to retore a 1977 Suzuki GT 750 LeMans. (For you folks out there that don’t know, this is a three cylinder, 2-stroke, water-cooled behemoth.)
I have been putting my two cents worth in for some time now and figured it was time to introduce myself since they started this particular thread.
So, keep you tracks on the ground any yuor antennas in the arr and we’ll catch you later
Happy modeling all

Hi! I don’t post here much,but visit often,so I thought,what the heck…

My name is Steve Johnson and I am 50 years old. I have an amazing wife and three children, one at home yet. He’s eleven…two grown daughters from a previous mistake. We live in south-central Pennsylvania.

I have been studying military history my entire adult life and just returned to modelling in the last three years. I build mostly WWII armor and have recently been afflicted with a severe case of Shermanitis. This has caused me to purchase a plethora of kits and more reference material than I care to think about.

My other interests are guns, especially big-bore handguns, hunting, baseball (Orioles),football (Raiders and Penn State).college basketball ( Indiana Hoosiers) and paleontology, specifically human ancestors and dinosaurs.

I also have been adopted by a pair of black Labrador Retrievers that allow me to live in “their” house. We are working out exactly who owns whom.

My favorite holidays are Opening Day of deer season, Christmas and the AMPS Nationals in April…in no particular order.

I work as a receiving clerk to support my addiction to Smith & Wesson handguns and armor-related books and kits.

I find that the more people I meet, the more I like my Dodge truck.[:D]

Well I’m a little late to the party. My name is Eric and I’m 41 years young. [:D] I live in Vancouver Washington, which is across the river from my old home of Portland Oregon. I work in Production for the largest newspaper in the Northwest. I’m married (again) with a 20 year old stepson, 13 year old son, and 8 year old daughter (devil). I also have 3 cats, unfortunately no Tigers, which happens to be my favorite animal. I started modeling at about 8 and Monograms Panzer IV is what got me into armor as my favorite modeling medium. Thanks in large part to FSM, I returned to modeling after a long absence.

My hobbies consist of reading military history, softball, golf, Oregon Duck sports, nostalgia, especially 40’s-60’s and watching movies.

Favorite music is mostly 80’s bands along with some grunge rock from the early 90’s.

Favorite movies include:

John Wayne WWII movies
Good Bad and the Ugly or most any Clint Eastwood movie
SPR
Lord of the Rings Triology
Twilight Zone

Hi, my name is Duncan. I’m 39, married with no children. I live in Vancouver, BC. Life consists of work/gym/school, repeat.

I work as a nursing aid, occupational first aid attendant, and patient concerns advisory commitee member at a forensic psychiatric hospital. My other hobbies are fencing and archery. I’ld like to say I rock climb and play flute, but both of those get done rarely now. I am working on a second degree in English very slowly. I figure I’ll be ready for graduate school by the time I retire. [:D]

Nice to hear about people.

Cheers,
Duncan

Hi my name is Ron, and like my screen name says Im a vet tech in the army reserves, just recently home from the magic kingdom of Iraq. This forum helped me to maintain my sanity while over there. I am 34 and live in Colorado now. I have been modeling for over 20 years and still am learning a great deal about the hobby from this forum. I am single and have only my hobby room and the guys on this forum to keep me company at night. LOL In my civilian life I work in the oil industry.

I’m 17, and live at home with my parents =) yes i’m still a leach… lol. I’m enlisted in the US Army under the DEP my MOS iis 45B- Small arms/artillery repair.

I play baseball, and love it…played in the Little League World Series when i was 15, and my current position is catcher. I got offered a scholarship from WMU…but i turned it down because of my enlistment =(

I’ve been modeling since i was 15…(started in the hotel room at the WS because i was bored) and just recently got into armor. I began with planes, but they started to bore me, and I picked up my first armor build. (Academy M1a1) and i fell in love.

I have a job as a floor cleaner at a private business, and make $12 an hour (extremely good for ppl my age) but with the car and the dollar hungry g/f, can’t afford that many new models… That…and my time doesn’t allow me to work on them that much.

I play an online game called America’s Army, and am in one of the most elite clans in the game. www.dow-sniper.net feel free to check it out =)

i too am 17, almost 18 (less than a month!). been modeling since my dad built with me, around 6. but i got out of it for like 6 years. my first armor model was the academy M1, working on it now, in a iraq dio which includes a AH-1W, hummer, M1, BMP, and SA-2. im going to Miami of Ohio next year with a Marine ROTC scholarship. yup.

Good luck to you. I just finished commanding a school that taught this MOS (amongst others). I just shipped my oldest stepson off to basic training last month. He’s enjoying life at Ft. Benning as we speak. I’m amazed at the amount of times in the 2+ weeks he’s been gone that he’s called or wrote back to say, “tell Dad he was right about that.”

Ya know! we have such a diverse group of folks here on the forums, It’s nice to hear a little about each of you, your careers, family, and how the hobby has had an impact in your lives. My life has not been a whole lot different then most men my age 59. I’ve had many adventures, some wonderful, and some to close for comfort! I have been retired from the active work force for about 5 yrs. now, and that has had alot to do with my renewed interest in this hobby. I had a wonderful 30 yr. career in aviation, and learned it from the ground up. My interest in armor probably stems from the year I spent in the 4th tank battlion USMC back in the early 70’s (M-48’s). I’ve been married to the same woman for 37 yrs. and have a beautiful 29 yr. old daughter who teaches high school English, and is single! Need to get her married so I have someone to leave all these neat models to. LOL. One of my favorite pastimes besides model building, is spending time here on the forums, and learning not only how to build more professional looking models, but, learning some of the history, and facts about the subjects we try to replicate. It’s a pleasure to be among such a nice bunch of people. Semper Fi, mike
