A fun scratch build video

I came across this video; I found it informative and entertaining.

that was good steve , seen a lot of his stuff , actually I subscribe to his channel , fun guy .

Hey Steve, cool. I will check out some of his others too.

Cool vid. His reminiscing of the Star Wars model builds is intresting. So that where “greeble” came from [:^)]

Yeah-- I found that interesting too. [Y]

So did I. You guys are right, this man is fun to watch. A rare treat to see a good modeling YouTube video. Nice find.

Guys… I just watched the next video of his that came up. It is even better than the first one I posted. In this one he builds up a garage kit, showing his process in dealing with them. At the same time, he instructs a newbie.

I learned a ton. Steve 5, you are dead on for subscribing to his videos. Clearly, he knows his stuff, and he is geared towards not only effect, but throughput. I found it interesting that he works with mostly lacquer for the base colors, and then he uses oils for effect. Also interesting is what he said about airbrushes. He said all the guys at ILM use single action. I was surprised by that. It is entertaining to watch his seemingly haphazard techniques. He uses no particle masks, no booth, no exhaust fans, no gloves. By the end of the videos his hands are black with paint Lol.

he use to have his own show on pay TV , the mythbusters , he’s like a 6 year old he get’s that excited , I learn a lot from him , as well as getting entertained .

By the way I would love his work shop . lol.

your insignia is great too steve .

Steve, I thought he looked familiar. Thanks for pointing that out!

I am Lol about the 6 year old excitement because he did that at the end of this build. The man enjoys his work!

I agree about the workshop!

Thanks about the badge. I didn’t make it, but I guess I can say that I earned it.[Y]

Here is another fun one, a robot kit-bash. Lacquer base coat, acrylic wash, and just once he used a respirator. Lol.

Wow, check this one out.

I also noticed that at the end of the video. Made me smile.

All those years of watching mythbusters I had no idea he worked on star wars. Great video. Thanks for posting.

[dto:] And you are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.

Did anyone notice he wasn’t using a straightedge to cut? I get snaky lines and damaged fingertips when I try that! His positive upbeat attitude is very inspiring.

Modeling should be fun. If it’s all doom and gloom criticizing and rivet counting, what is the point? Now don’t you want to go and make something?
