A few oldies

Here are a few ceiling hangers I did for my nephew.

The first is the OLD Fujimi A-4E, in VMA-311 markings, the markings came from a few different sheets and I masked and painted the rudder.

The pilot is from Monogram and weapons from Hasegawa (Mk-83’s) and the kit (Zuni pods)

Next is the Fujimi A-6A Intruder. This one has adlib’d VMA-121 markings, the ordnance is a mix of Fujomi, Monogram and Hasegawa.

Pilots are from Monogram as well as the abbreviated bang seats

Love those builds!

2 nice looking builds there, I take it they are both 72nd scale.

Nice! Reminds me of my early teen years with all my ceiling hangers!

Nice work there. I always like the Tomcat markings. Used to see them at ElToro way back when. Nice touch on the bombs painting the bomb body and fin assemblies in different shades of OD.

Gorgeous!

Great job, Marine!

Awesome work! Great tail work on the A-4!

Great looking model - congratulations!

Naw theyre the OLD 1/48 (actually 1/50) scale kits from the late 70’s early 80’s

And thanks for the kind words fellas

They really look great!

Ahhhh the old Fujmi kits. I built the Intruder but never their A-4. Zuni pods? Hmmmmm Never can seem to get enough of those. Perhaps I need to look for one of those kits…[^o)]

Beautiful! Love the A-4s. My dad had one do a practice strafing run on him while he was growing up just outside of Beeville, TX… Chase N.A.S. He said both of them about had to change their drawers… The A-4 driver scared the poop out of my dad, the hill the A-4 driver almost plowed into scared the poop out of him!!! Thanks for sharing, Raymond

That’s a great story! Sounds like a diorama waiting to happen to me…

Luckily for me, since I live here (Cherry Point/Havelock NC) I have access to some really great static diplay historical Marine aircraft, off the top of my head, we have an A-6E TRAM, A-4M, HH-46D Pedro, RF-4B Phantom, so I can go get pitcures up close if I like, and with this years air show coming up, I’ll be deep into photo research that weekend.

I still have the Fujimi TA-4F waiting to be built, I got it at my clubs show last summer and I picked up a set of MAW decals , the Hard Corps Scooters sheet so I can build it as a H&MS fast FAC Scooter and it’ll be a celing hanger too.

How about the Monogram OA-4M and the Two Bobs decals for those? Just curious, but do you know what the proper or common loadout is for a fast FAC Scooter? I know that Zuni’s are used for smoke markers, but I am curious as to the rest of the configuation.

As far as I know they used Zuni’s, I’ll have to ask around, but they werent intended for anything but marking targets for air strikes, the OA-4s as well.

Let me do some checking and I’ll let you know

Thank you, I would appreciate that. I have good info on the F/A-18Ds in that role, but not on the OA-4M. The Hornet fast FACs carried a HARM for self defense, and I was curious if the OA-4Ms did anything similar.

They may have, but I wont speak out of school as to whether they did or not since I dont have any definitive information and I dont want to give wrong info to anyone.

I ordered the Ginter book on two seat Skyhawks in Navy and Marine service, once I get it I’ll look and see if I can answer your questions ( I’m curious too as their answer)
