Hi all,
I’m an armor modeler that occasionally dabbles in other subjects. I picked up today a Fujimi A-7A in 1/72 scale as an impulse buy. I heard that Hobbyboss has a new kit out, but this is not about how I should get that kit…
The cockpit looks a little bare, and I think adding in a new ejection seat will spice it up considerably. So the question is: a) what sort of ejection seats were used in these aircraft? and b) who makes a good aftermarket set?
TIA!
Damon.
hiya–
The A-7’s used the Douglas Escapac seat. If youre looking to make this spot-on as accurate as possible, you would need to find the exact model of ESCAPAC that was used, but for the average modeler, you can use any number of cockpit add-ons. Aires makes an early A-7E cockpit set that is for the Fujimi kit, not sure if its the same mold as the A-7A that you have but it probably is. You can also look for any 1/72 A-4 Skyhawk accessories because the Skyhawk used the ESCAPAC seat too.
Thanks for the reply! Goodies ordered. Ironically they cost more than the actual kit itself. Guess there isn’t so much different between armor modeling and aircraft modeling… [:D]
