Thanks, and yes, any aluminum can will work…same same. If anything, the tea can may be a touch thicker.
I don’t drink a whole lot of canned beverages…but when I do, I prefer sweat tea!

Honestly with us Michiganders we take our pop bottles and cans seriously sometimes we can turn in enough to afford another model kit. LOL
But seriously the cans of Arizona tea that fermis use are expendable since those are non-returnables and I do believe are even thinner than a regular pop can. Though I don’t have to worry about using pop cans or tea cans to make straps as I have a roll of lead foil that I can use that I got from work for free.

Thanks Herc, and yes…yes they do! I did the 1/72 “P” (export to Portugal), basically the “A” kit with different markings. The only thing that really bugs me, is the shape of the intake, when viewed from the front…but, whatchya gonna do??? Is what it is![t$t]
Managed to get a few hours in, this evening. There has been a slight change of plans! I found a set of decals I like, for a Navy “E” model…so, I must do a few things to convert the “A” to the “E”.
The first step is to replicate the prominent “gun lump” on the lower left side.
The “C” kit comes with the part, but I need it to make the “K”…I found just what I needed in a 1/48 mk82.
Got busy making the part and forgot pics…you’ll see it later!
I also needed to plug up the troughs on the cheeks of the intake. I heated a bit of sprue and just pressed it in, popped em out and CAed them back in place. Also carved out a new trough for the gun.
Carved a new vent/intake trough on the right side.
…and added this little exhaust/vent with brass tubing.
Another defference…the “A” has a pull down, stirrup type step, but the “E” has a telescopic ladder (very A-10-like). I decided to show this feature, as well as the hand holds/steps just below the cockpit rail. The “doors” will go in later. “Gun lump” in place as well.

Alright, alright…not a whole lot to report…
The main canopies have a beautiful mold seam right down the middle[:XX]
Forgot to take a pic of the final result (will see that later)…I started by scraping down the seam with a blade, followed by lighter and lighter grits of sandpaper, then used toothpaste on a soft rag, finishing with a buffing wheel in a Dremel. Them suckers do shine!!!
The fuse haves for the “E” didn’t line up too well, and had a few small gaps. A bit of CA (filler), sanding, and rescribing were needed. The two seater fit perfectly, with only a small gap on the belly between the mains…easy nuff!
The wing/fuse join leaves a bit to be desired. I stretched some sprue, drug it through a dab of CA, and layed it in the gaps, and sanded them smooth.
…and, I have started the finishing process!!!
The “E” canopy is just tacked on for painting, it’ll be open. I’m gonna keep the “K” closed, cuz I love the bulky profile, and I’m not a fan of “flip top” canopies.
I should have gotten some color thrown at em this evening, but we just got the last season of “Dexter”…good show!
Does it matter what kind of toothpaste you use to buff those seam marks out?—would gel work? Nice looking pre-shade going on w/ those MOJ0’s…
“Paste” has a tiny bit of grit to to it, like any polishing compound…if heard that “gel” is no good for polishing(so I’ve never tried it).

The “E” is gonna be marked VA-113, “Stingers”, aboard the USS Ranger, early 70s.
I did the “K” in a wrap around grey on grey, and (tentatively) will be marked as Michigan ANG, based at Selfridge. They used A-7Ds for sure, before being replaced by F-16s…dunno about the “K”, but in this little world of mine…they did!
