A-10A warthog engine.

Can someone tell me the correct color of the turbine blade enclosure on the g.e. engine,in my factory pics,it seems buff in color, but I have seen build-ups that looked a gold or dark gold.I am building a modern A-10A,not a Gulf War version. Thanks, for any help.

Hey

Merkin

Try the link below. Not sure what your talking about exactly. But the housing around this engine’s blades outside looks kind of Gold w/ a little green in it, to me.

Hope this helps…

Thanks,I had factory fresh pics, which is hard to determine the weathering,on an engine that has seen heat and alot of action.

Here is a pic of the front, taken last month at a local airshow.

Thanks, great pic.I was not clear enough in my request,I was talking about the intakes on the engine itself, not the nacelle pods, and after finding some more pics,it does in fact appear to be a pale green/gold tint,on the ducting?,that covers the blades. Thanks again for the great pic.

The engine “Rub-strip” is a redish/brown which will trun darker, from the gun gases, as the engine ages.

Just for the record, the front blades are usually called the compressor fan blades. The Turbine blades are the “power” end the hot exhaust gases exit thru and turn to provide the power of the “turbine” engine.

True but, in the case of the A-10s TF-34 turbofan engine, the front blades are known as just fan blades, the compressor fan blades are located further back. I think we all (I did anyway) knew what he was talking about. [{(-_-)}]
