A-10 Thunderolt. Best in 1:48 scale?

Guys,

looking for good kit of A-10 in 1:48 scale. Any suggestions?

The only one I can speak about first-hand is the Monogram/Revell kit. It’s a nice kit.

My experience with the Tamiya kit was pretty frustrating. It’s one of their earlier releases, and has some fit problems and accuracy issues. It’s sitting in the DNF pile, destined to be a paint mule. The Hobby Boss kit gets good reviews, and if I were building another Warthog, I’'d probably go with it.

The Hobby Boss is supposed to be the big dog in 1/48. If it’s half as impressive as their Tornado IDS, you’ll be in for a treat.

Thank’s guys.

any ideas how’s the panel lines in Hobby Boss : engraved or raised ?

Engraved.

I made it, the two seater, its an excellent kit, fantastic engraving on the panel lines good fit all round.

The Hobby boss kit that is.

Yes the Hobby Boss kit is excellent, great detail and worth the price in the pile of ordinance you get with it! Only problem I had is mine had bad sinkholes in the wings over the landing gear bays, I’ve seen other kits that didn’t have this problem so I may have gotten a bad kit.

I built both the Tamiya and the Hobby Boss. Turns out what I was expecting was not what i got. I expected the HB to require much putty and sanding, didn’t happen while the Tamiya had detail on weapons pylons etc. not up to their usual quality. I got both up to respectable standards with a little extra finesse where needed.

Any one know if the new Revell A-10 kit is engraved or raised panels?

Raised. The Revell kit is just a re-pop of their old (but good) one. If you had to pick between the Revell and the Tamiya, go Revell. I also hear Italeri has a good Hog. But given that it’s about the same price as the HB offering, I’d still probably stick with HB. I have the HB hog in the stash and it looks awesome. Full gun and all the weapons.
