I guess I’m back on the forums after a long hiatus.
Hiya, My G/F wants me to build an A-10 Thunderbolt II for her (Yes, you’ve read that correctly). She also wants it modeled after the 354 TFW. Luckily I have found a kit with those markings. However, since the kit comes with 5 decal variations, I don’t know if the cover art is my version (she balked at the camo scheme on the box art). If anyone has ITALERI Kit #2659 A-10A Jaws version, could you look at your paint guide for the 354th TFW and tell me if it’s a camo scheme or all gray.
Not to hijack your thread but my GF asked me to build her a model about 5 or 6 weeks ago. She didn’t care what kind it was, though, so I made this Academy F-16C. I’m just waiting on some decals for Luke AFB that I ordered from Afterburner Decals.
She said that she liked the idea that I was thinking of her the whole time I was building it. I was like…uh yeah…of course I was. Its not one of my better builds but she really likes it so far.

i too built one for my gf 9 years ago. it was the tamiya f117. can only assume its destroyed knowing her. anyway, nice. a girl after my own heart with the a-10. at least she knows what she loves!!! better keep that one…[;)]
Where is the 354 TFW stationed? IIRC, some years ago they were at Grissom AFB (Indiana). I can remember A-10s doing their thing all around this area almost on a daily basis. Sure was cool watching them “work”! Much better than the F-16s that frequent our skies here now (too high up and too fast to see much of 'em). I could swear they used some of the barns and such as “targets”.
At that time they were just olive drab in color, but things have certainly changed since then.
I think they’re still at Eielson in Alaska. They were there around 2005.
Whoops, my mistake. I realized later that it was actually the 434 TFW that was stationed at Grissom. Not that it matters, but I wanted to admit to my error.
Carry on…

Currently at Eielson in alaska. The aircraft have the standard grey paint job. I do believe that it is the 355th sqn part of the 354 TFW. Some pages on the net had this sqn inactive from 15 August 2007.
Google is great for stuff like this!

The 355th FS of the 354th FW was deactivated in 2007 and the the A-10’s were shipped off to other bases. The 18th FS became the Red Flag-Alaska Aggressor squadron equipped with F-16C-30’s from the 8th FW in Korea. They are painted in the two Arctic Aggressor schemes. One A-10 was disassembled and loaded aboard a C-5 for a trip to a museum. I want to make a diorama showing how it was loaded through the nose ramp.
Be careful. If she wants the 354th TFW, then you have to build a Myrtle Beach bird in Euro I camo. Upon moving to Eielson, the wing became the 354th FW. She obviously knows her stuff and she must have some connection to sunny, warm Myrtle Beach AFB. It could be disaster if you bring her an Eielson Ice Hawg!!!
You are a lucky guy, however![bow]
Where do you guys find these girls? My last GF thought my hobbies were kid stuff! And she did crochet stuff and other useless crafts!
