Here are a few pic of my Academy M113 APC Vietnam era.
I have added a few extras like a M60 and extra dude in the back who is holding a drink bottle and a few extra jerry cans & ammo boxs.
Where can i improve?
Thanks Robert

really nice build. wooty only two thing’s i see that you need. one is dullcote on all the clothes and tarps. and as you know mud and dust. but really nice build. here is a pic of mine that i used dullcote on everything. but becareful dullcote can strip paint if it’s just brushed on so try it on a scrap peace first.
[:D] nice build,Wooty what more are you going to do to the kit?,great build.[:D]
dullcoat and (little more) weathing and you’ll have a 1st class build. Great work.
Thansk guys!!
Dullcoat it is.
Roy i was thinking about putting it in a dio with maby a Slick oh some type of crashed helo in the jungle of Vietnam.
I seen a pic in a book i have here with a crashed Huey and a M113 parked up beside it.
But who knows. I just really do what ever comes into my head.
Thanks for the pointers
Robert
Robert,
If yo want to be accurate in your dio, I wouldn’t put a huey in with this 113. The 106 recoiless rifle was never used (as issued, that is) by US forces in Nam past '65. These 11th CAv markings are circa '64,'65 and we didn’t have the Huey then, nor M16’s.
HMMM Food for thought
I have always been one for being accurate.
Thanks for pointing that out to me mate, otherwise i could probably would have done something that i later have regreted>>
Thanks For That
Robert
Robert don’t take everything you are told as fact! Granted not likely they would not have a 106 - But they were resorceful. go to this site and do research on this. It’s the history of Armor in Viet Nam.
Then make your own decision as to what you want

Good luck - And a good Build.
I have to say that this is a really great job. Probably alot better then what I could do.
As I noted in my post, (as issued) past '65. That is not to say that they weren’t used. There was no logistical chain for parts and ammo after that year. They were utilized by the ARVN well into the seventies. Most 113’s in our unit were kept pretty clear up top cause that’s where everybody rode, so as to not be shredded by RPG’s. It was less of a gamble to be exposed up top than the alternative I guess. You may very well find a reference with a recoiless rifle up top, all I’m saying is I’ve never seen one. But, it doesn’t mean that they weren’t armed this way, there were a lot of 113’s around.
Steve
here’s some 11-cav stuff - I would have to agree with crockett no 106. Now I was in the 10th cav so what they did in the 11th was probably different. But after 66 I couldn’t emagine not having M16’s - That might have been when they first deployed earlier - Is that correct Crockett? We brought the 4th over and had everything M16 - M60’s etc. that was in 66. The 11 I believe was with the 25th correct and should have been there earlier - Educate me on this OK…
Nice work, Wooty. As has been mentioned, the shiny guys are the only things I see that need attention.
Ken,
I am no expert, but as far as I can tell, you’re absolutely right. the 25th transistioned from the M14 to M16 in September 66.
Regards,
Steve
nice job … thumb up
Note to Crockett; Wouldn’t wanna be inside a 113 when it hit a mine either, huh? Especially the older mo-gas babies, right?
Great M113 Wooty. I like to see people building Vietnam models. I always give them an extra look.
Steve
I didn’t know anything about the 11th I was hoping you could enlighten me, The M14 was a great weapon, I scrounged one up to carry on my tank. along with all kinds of non issue weapons LOL…
Very cool. I love that little vehicle.
Very nice Wooty. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like they covered what’s needed. Great build! I really like the recoiless rifle on the side, as I just bought an old shell from one.
