Hmmm. Search as I might, no reactors or flux capacitors in the spares box. I did find this small jet engine that might prove usefull. Too much? Would two engines be legal on track day? All thing to consider.
Ha! This jet engine fits right in there. Too radical? The intake might be a little loud for the driver who would be me. Maybe some ducting, firewalls and screens would be in order. [8-|] Thrust vectoring paddles might improve cornering, something to think about.
Hmm, this jet engine thing may disqualify us for track use. Maybe this should be a land speed record machine. Turbine for wheel drive and jet for extra boost. Being rear wheel drive it could also be used as a Drag race exhibition car. Just trying to figure out which track to go to. [8-|]
Wow, after a couple of test runs on the jet engine it quickly became evident that you can’t be pulling intake air out of the cockpit. Too close for comfort on that shreiking mouth. Air from underneath is not a good option as debris might get inhaled. Let’s put an intake on the side which doesn’t actually add any frontal area as it’s hidden behind the fender on the front view. Actually jet intakes aren’t much drag as they are pulling air in at high velocity at least that’s what my Mom told me. Problem solved!
A single fuel tank for Jet A has been installed for both the turbine and jet engine. It should last long enough for a record run. The Titainium ducting has been completed to route outside air to the jet engine. Now we can have side windows which will improve streamlining greatly and make the cockpit livable. A paint test for the hood looks to be the way to go. This thing might fly yet so to speak.
Hey Max, it is looking pretty cool! That is a nice touch with the ducting. It really pulls it together nicely. Imagine the heat from that engine and on the back of your noggin. Probably melt your helmet. Lol.
What color are you thinking for the body? Same as the hood? Other?
The Corvette project was to be a mindless filler while waiting on a weather window to paint the 1/1 speed attempt vintage motorcycle frame. The Corvette has been fun enough to warrant equal time share and will be finished soon. The motorcycle seemingly goes on forever. My wife jokingly says “It keeps him out of bars, at least in the daytime.” A man can’t have too many hobbies, I say. lol! Onward! Maybe I can take them to the speed trials at the same time. Just an idea. [8-|]
I decided that I had enough air intakes and laid up a new nose made from exotic carbon fiber. Actually not so exotic Bondo fill on the one I had but who’s to know? I also added a complicated fire extiguishing system just in case. One can’t be too careful on the subject of safety especially with a jet engine in the cockpit. I also put in aluminum floor pans as the plastic was sagging after the first jet engine test. Reporting.
I did put in a little overtime today on blending all this together even the headlight seams. This should add a few MPH to my upcoming record run by cheating drag once again!
