here is another barge from the 70s.
very cool caddy ,beautiful color btw the seville was a mid size car in 70’s lol and more expensive then the big Sedan Deville
Gorgeous models, but they really point out how bad styling got in the 70’s - especially over at GM. Those look like boxy Chevies with boxy grilles tacked on. When you add in the way-underpowered engines for the fuel crises and all the early-technology emissions controls tacked on, those were some really dog years for American automobiles.
Those are really nice. Great finishes. I think I rented (or was given rather) one of those out of Boston way back - a mile of hood.
Okay!
Where do you keep coming up with these? I have yet to see anything here in the States I could even start with!
Exactly yes, but GM still held up well compared to, for example, Chrysler …
No automobile stylist in the 1970’s is covered in glory. The likes of the Mustang II (which has its fans) and the Pacer replaced the beauties of the 1960’s like the coke-bottle Chryslers and such. With the crummy engines and oppressive early smog-control technology, there are few American cars from the 70’s that can be seen as classics today.
I worked for a Chev/Cad dealership when those came out. Had a Biaritz come in with a scratch across the brushed stainless roof cap. They were all set to order a new one, and our old school tech told them don’t.
He took some 180 grit on a board and in less than 10 minutes you’d never know it was damaged.
Nice paint work on both of them.
