75 year anniversary of the Korean War?

Hello, we are two weeks out from the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War. Has anyone suggested a Korean War GB? The last one was pretty awesome. I’m in if anyone wants to do it.

I finished up a F-86 Sabre earlier this year. I have a Monogram Mig-15 I was hoping to do as a companion. If there’s enough interest, I’m in.

I am in if we start one. I have a mig25, f86, and a corsair that fits. Maybe even armor.

Doesn’t seem to be much interest. I’m willing to run one, but I have a few rules.

  • The GB will ONLY last 6 months.
  • You have to actually build a model to enter. No signing up and disappearing.

I’ll do my best, but I would like a co-host to take over (just in case). Volunteers?

I’m interested in joining depending on start dates (need to finish some current builds). I’ve been planning to build a North Korean T-34/85 for the last couple of years.

I’d like to join but I need to find the right model to build…

I am interested in being a co-host. I didn’t want to take over the whole thing, as it’s been awhile since I hosted one.
I still have some other builds on the bench, but I think this will motivate me to get them across the finish line. I have quite a few aircraft and even armor that fit the bill for the Korean War. Korea had an interesting mix of “new” technology and leftovers from WWII. If I remember right, the 50th anniversary issue of Finescale had a pretty good list of aircraft and equipment used.
Thank you to those of you who expressed interest, and I hope we can get this going.

I just wanted a co-host “just in case”. I already have some heart problems, and I don’t want to leave people hanging. I’ll contact you by PM soon to set up a post time (you’ll post directly after me). I have several models that will fit the bill, so we’ll see what we come up with.

I have just bought a Fujimi 1/700 New Jersey to build in her Korean War 1953 appearance, so count me in!
My father, who passed away earlier this year, just missed the fighting, having been sent to an island off North Korea right after fighting was stopped.

I’d love to join to build a kit to honor my father who fought in Korea. I wish that I could’ve gotten the 1/16 Korean War Sherman that Andy was selling. I do have a Tamiya 1/35 Sherman and a Dragon M-46 in my stash.

Sounds excellent! The USN in Korea is not modeled hardly at all. Neither is the RN, or the RAN either. Welcome aboard.

1/16? That must be huge. Honoring family with builds is always a great use of our hobby.

I agree with you Greg about honoring our family members or veterans with a model build for sacrificing so much for us.

I ran a GB here for the 60th Anniversary starting back in June 2010 that ended up having some real good participation

I just started the Korean War Sherman last week,I got it to compliment my 1/16 Tiger, looks like it will be fun.
I would have used it in the Group Build

I am also interested in joining. I have a 1/72 MiG-15 just for the occasion.

That was a great GB. I think I actually completed 5 aircraft and 2 armor for that one. It was the most fun I’ve had on here.

Wow. The scale comparison is pretty impressive. I’m looking forward to seeing that built.

It looks like we have enough interest to get this going. Stikpusher’s previous GB was one of the best I’ve seen.
I’ve been digging through my stash, and I have some leftovers (a lot actually) from the previous GB. I would really like to build a F7F-3N tigercat and hopefully some more after that.

Here are some that I would like to get to. I didn’t get anything done from the commonwealth, so I am going to this time. I think I have some SAAF P-51D decals, so I might throw in one of those.
