'69 Pontiac GTO

I took a few years off from modeling and I tried doing a search for a '69 GTO but results said 0 found. Any way I was reading my instructions and two things struck me odd. I noticed that the instructions says the engine block should be orange but GM says the engines of a '69 GTO were light metallic blue. Another odd thing is the hood does not have any location marks of where the hood tachometer goes. The last thing I noticed is that it comes with two sets of tires, one stock and one custom yet both are label #100 on the instructions. One set of tires are thin and one set are a little thicker. Which ones are the stock? For a box that says 1969 GTO Judge, the instructions have a 1968 GTO version. I am looking for a little help: 1)Which tires are stock for the 1969 GTO Judge? 2)How do I locate the hood scoop? 3)I was getting the chrome rims ready for assembly and so of the chrome was removed and can be seen if looked at closely. How can I fix that?

Pontiac hood tach location appears to be close to the center bulge for the ram air tunnel.

for the engine color, light metallic blue is correct. i remember reading somewhere that said the instructions were wrong.

  1. you can either touch up the chrome with silver paint, chrome foil (bare metal foil), repaint them (alcad) or send them off to chrometech usa to be rechromed (i assume that’s expensive).

the box side shows custom (top) and stock (bottom). paint the hub area in flat black.

i suggest going to google.com and search 69 GTO judge and go to ‘images’. it’ll show a heap of photos of 69 gtos.

Thank you Octane Orange for the comments. I was thinking no one here was going to respond. Either I picked a truly new subject or I wasn’t wearing deodorant (ok…not that funny). I did find a 1969 GTO Judge site. I read a little history but the pictures I saw did not give me a location for the Tachometer. I will look again.

Pontiac V-8 engines of that vintage were painted a light metallic blue and I think Buick used the same color (IIRC). Testors Model Masters paints for automobiles has the Pontiac engine color. Chevy used the “chevy engine red” (looks orange), and Cadillac used a dark Blue. Olds ? Anyone? The Olds color will not come to mind at the moment.

Hey SNOOPY. I apologize for not responding (it would have been an “I dunno” but I guess it would have been something.) .Looking forward to pictures…

…a tach was an option on a Judge

…wheels weren’t chrome on a Judge
