'68 Chevy-What's out there

I’ve got a friend hunting for a '68 Chevy kit or diecast in any scale. He has a full size one and wants a model of it. He finds plenty of 67’s but no 68’s. I thought I’d ask here for him and see if you guys could point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Cassi, I just got a copy of the Hobby Surplus catalog and there is one kit listed a 1968 CamaroZ28 (ERT 38428) Haven’t checked the site yet. It’s 1/25

I don’t think that’s it but I’m not really a car person. I was told it was the same as the '67 model (whatever it is) except for the horseshoe tail lights. It didn’t even occur to me to ask the actual model. [censored] Probably a good thing that at 22 I’ve never learned to drive.

LoL Cass… How do you get around if ya don’t drive?

It’d help knowing the model of the car you’re looking for as there’s alot of '68 Chevys out there. (Camaro, Impalas, Chevelle, Nova, etc)

he is looking for the 68 impala ss

mpc put it out when abe lincoln was driving or was it thomas jefferson(say ed you were driving in those days too right)[swg]

it is going for $150 plus on evil bay

but 1 or 2 resin comp. have it like modelhaus etc .

the only thing is you will need the 67 amt impala avail. for about 10-15 bucks as the donor kit for all the underpinnings

Well Ed, for one, students ride the public bus free. The buses also have those nice signal interupters so they don’t get stuck at red lights like cars do. Plus, I have feet. I covered 2 blocks in a couple minutes last night to catch my bus on time.

If that is the model with that was the same in '68 as it was in '67 except the tail lights then that is it. See I didn’t need to know. I knew somebody here would. If they’re about the same except for that can’t the AMT '67 be modified?

they basic body shape is almost … the same, but the front grille headlight area is also different

Well it is the Impala SS. I just got an Email back from his wife. I just got thrown because he’d mentioned looking at a diecast '67 and not seeing any difference til he got to the back.

Here’s some comparision photo’s

Thanks Jim. There is much difference, but there is a little. Can’t they be like the Bronco and be the same for like 20 yrs.[(-D]

You are welcome [;)]

The body itself is the same, the front end is pretty darn close, it’s the rear that is noticably different. Could always build the '67 and back it into the display cabinet. [:D]

If it were for me, I wouldn’t be interested in cars at all. The guy is looking for a scale version of his '68. He can’t even find a matchbox one.

Depending on how bad your friend wants a scale replica of his car, he can check this out -
