65 years modelling, but new to forum

Am retired the last 10 years. I only worked to support my hobbies…model railroading, aircraft building, and currently into ship modelling (plastic, don’t have the time to bend planks). I find FSM a wonderful source of building ideas and shortcuts.

Welcome to the forums, abutt2!! Yeah, i’m pretty sure there are quite a number of us who work to support our hobby. What specifically do you model? Don’t know much about Model railroads, but aircraft are always a favorite! How about posting a few pics of your builds so we can see!! [:)]

Welcome welcome!!! Please share!

Hello abutt2, Welcome to the forum.

Welcome, abutt2 ! [#welcome]
Ships, armor - Wood, plastic - It’s all good.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Specially to Shrike. Got hooked on ships about six months ago. Have completed two Tamiya 350 battleships…the Yamato and the New Jersey. have two more of those in boxes. Then have done the Tamiya 1/72 Vosper and the Japanese Torpedo Boat, a really super kit. Next I want to tackle Revell’s HMCS Snowberry (1000 parts in 1/72!). No pictures as yet. One of these days I’ll oil the digi up and shoot some.[:)]

Welcome to FSM.
can’t wait to see some pictures.

Gee, you must be even older than me ! I’ve been at it for 52 years, and will finally admit I’m addicted. Don’t you wish we could still buy 'em for the prices we started out with ??

Hi and welcome abutt2

Those ships will look good on this site…!

Regards, Dan

Welcome to the family!!!

Welcome to the forums

62 years of modeling , wow I feel like such a newborn in the hobby . My father who just passed was very much into model railroading and he left me all his locomotives ranging from brass engines to plastic , he collected from the early 1950’s and I even have wood kits he built , sadly he never did get to build his layout and that was a life long dream of his , but in his honor I’m going to be building it for him , and any helpful tips would be very much accepted .

Welcome to the forum, abutt2. Looking forward to gleaning some wisdom from your lengthy model-building career. Have fun & enjoy the site !
