I’d have 5 hours in the prep and paintwork alone.

thank you mississippivol,midnightprowler and pawel. Taking a break from IRMA prep.I removed the chrome from the aircleaner alt carbs and valve covers painted and give my typical black wash.I just started the wiring on the 348 cu in chevy engine.

You know , I was very disappointed to see they took the opening doors out of that kit . With carefully thinned paint on the door edges they fit so well . Still love the chrome you have to put on them .
I usually do the anniversary series paint combos .My fave ? The Classic anniversary Gold Metallic with a Creme top . Put the chrome on and ouch ! Wear Sun - Glasses !

I’ll be keeping tabs on this build. I learned to drive in a new black '58 Chevy with automatic trans. The day they took me to the State Police barracks for my test they put me in a stick. Needless to say I flunked out. Went down the hill, stopped at the stop sign, made the right to go to the stalls for the 3 point. Instead of just turnig right, I made a u turn, jumped the curb and went through the fence. The tropper hit the other brakes or I would have gone off into the field. Took it the next time in a stick and passed. Loved the car though.

Love the 58
Thank you Johnnyk fox and jcbitter still without power down my street still have royal palms on power lines on generator maybe Sunday when power is back but all is well .i plan to paint the car in light silver blue metallic with blue interior have the paint ready for mixing.
Silver blue will look great!!! Whenever I think of a '58 chevy I visualize the opening scene of American Graffiti with the white '58 chevy and Toad on the scooter. That’s a great movie.
My 1st and only 58 was white with a red white interior in 1973 of course no BMF to much chrome to paint at 13 but yes American graffiti is a great movie with my favorite bullet
And then the trooper jumped out the window, right?[:D]
He asked me “Why did you do that?”. I gave the only stupid answer I could think of “I’ve never driven a stick before today”. He had me back out of the field and complete the rest of the test, which I did perfectly. I got the same trooper the 2nd time and passed in the stick with no problems. He didn’t mention the first time at all. He just said “Congratulations, nice job, you passed”.

thats a great story . well I mixed my sliver/blue metalic looks real good in the mixing jar but couldnt get the same shade on the body. in the the purple pond it goes !!!
