I got this kit on eBay earlier this year and it lacked decals. Plus this kit is an old re-pop of having hinges to open doors on the kit. I remember having one of these kits in my youth and hated them. Never could get them to open / close straight.
I decided to repurpose this kit and create a Chevy Nomad pick up truck. Haven’t decided if I want to make it a 4x4 truck or an El Camino. So here are a couple pics of how I’m planning to turn this into a pick-up truck. You can see the lines I’m looking to cut…
The rear portion roof line marked will be used to merge somehow to the dotted line up front. The rear front seat door post will remain to hold in place.
I haven’t figure out the bed portion yet. My thinking is repurpose the rear interior section and sand smooth, floor included. All doors will be glued shut. The other challenge is the back portion to create the cab and cut the rear window to size.
This will be an ongoing slow build because of the amount of scratch work involved. This definitely will be a challenging build for me and a first turning it into something totally different.
