50th Anniversary Model Show

If you are in the area early May 2027, let me invite you to my club’s 50th Anniversary Show that will take place on 1 & 2 May 2027 in Seraing, on the outskirts of Liège, in the French-speaking eastern part of Belgium. Clubs and traders from Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic will be attending. An international competition will be held of course, and being Belgium, a bar will allow you to refresh yourself and sample fine Belgian beers..
Liege is 1hr away from Brussels and its world famous Army Museum and Autoworld (conveniently located on the same site), 1hr away from Bastogne and its museum and monuments. Liege hosts, amongst others, a weapons’ museum, many historical buildings, and a number of the forts that defended the city during the opening phases of WWI and at the outbreak of WWII are open to visitors. Needless to say, Belgium and Liege are world famous for their waffles, chocolates and many many many beers..

Now that sounds like it would be quite an adventure. A big international model show would be fun by itself, but combining it with a trip through Belgium and visits to some of the museums and historical sites would make it a fantastic trip.

I’ve never been to a European model show, and seeing clubs and modelers coming together from that many different countries would be really interesting. And being that close to Brussels and Bastogne certainly doesn’t hurt.

This is something I’ll seriously consider. We’d be coming from Seattle, Washington, so it’s a long way to go for a model show, but it could make for a fantastic European vacation. I’ll have to discuss it with my wife. She might even enjoy coming along.
